the boy watches inquisitively at a drop of water slowly rolling off the edge of a leaf cupped in his hands.
funny how his curiosity is in things with little apparent drama. his curiosity is in simplicity and the quiet things that make life go round. the unseen cogs in the machine that allow it to operate.
any normal boy would instead be eager to watch the impending brawl between the bully and his quarry at the end of every school day. but not this boy. he likes the soothing sound of cars driving through his neighbourhood every night. and the luminance of their bright lights shifting across his bedroom windows as they pass. he likes kneeling in front of the window, arms crossed on the sill, watching the sun rise early morning. the house gradually lit by a warm orange radiance. an orange with a refreshing citrus quality that he can almost savour. he likes the feeling of a light rain gently hitting his face. when others scurry for cover, he stays and waits for it. he looks up at the sky and waits for the droplets to steadily touch his body. it's as if hes being cleansed by god's hands, reaching out from the sky.
